If the wear resistance of the spikes is insufficient, the surface of the spikes will gradually wear under the action of long-term friction, resulting in an increase in the matching gap between the spikes and the rails and sleepers, which will affect the fastening effect of the spikes. In order to improve the wear resistance of the spikes, the surface of the spikes will be specially treated during the manufacturing process, such as quenching, carburizing, etc., to increase the surface hardness.
