Sleepers screw spikes, also called rail screws or sleeper screws, are metal fasteners used to secure railway rails to sleepers (ties). They screw into pre-drilled holes in the sleeper and are used to attach the rail's base plate or chair to the sleeper, preventing movement of the rails. Unlike traditional dog spikes, screw spikes provide a stronger hold, are more resistant to loosening, and are used with wooden and concrete sleepers.
