China Railways realizes the localization of rails and reduces dependence on imports

At present, China's rail manufacturing technology mainly relies on imports, especially the demand for high-strength rails and high-quality rails, which has long been restricted by foreign steel manufacturers. In order to solve this problem, China Railway Corporation cooperated with a number of domestic steel manufacturers to jointly develop domestic rails that meet international standards.
The newly developed domestic rails have reached the international advanced level in terms of strength, hardness and corrosion resistance, especially in the application requirements of high-speed railways and heavy-duty railways, showing good performance. This kind of rail adopts advanced metallurgical technology, and has been optimized many times in the alloy ratio of the rail, so that it can improve strength while ensuring good processing performance and durability.
China Railway Corporation said that the full production of domestic rails will greatly reduce the cost of railway construction and maintenance. Previously, my country needed to import a large number of high-quality rails from abroad every year. The purchase price and transportation cost of rails were not cheap. Once domestic rails are put into production, the overall purchase cost will be greatly reduced. This will not only reduce the national fiscal burden, but also promote the development of the domestic steel industry.
In addition, the production of domestic rails will also drive the development of a number of related industries, especially steel smelting, rail processing and transportation industries. It is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs each year, further promoting economic growth.
China Railway Corporation stated that it will continue to promote independent research and development of rail technology in the future, and strengthen cooperation with domestic universities and research institutions, striving to further improve the technical level of rails in the next few years, and promote the development of rail manufacturing technology to a higher end.
