Now commonly used railroad spikes include the following types: railroad dog spike, screw spike, spring spike. They are used in different ways, but their effects are the same, that is, through the different structure and use methods, to make rails fixed and stable.

rail fastening

A rail screw spike, also called sleeper screw, rail screw or lag bolt, is a medium or large metal screw used to fasten a rail base plate or rail. Such spikes are always fastened into holes bored into the tie sleeper, sometimes together with imbedded plastic dowels.

Precautions for Using Screw Spikes

Although screw spikes offer excellent performance, correct usage is essential to maximize their innovative effects. Below are key precautions:

(1)Select Appropriate Specifications

Choose the length and diameter of the spikes based on soil hardness and load requirements. For example, longer spikes with denser grooves are needed in soft soil to enhance grip. GNEE RAIL can provide various specifications of screw spikes and offers customized products according to customer requirements.

(2)Avoid Over-Hammering

If encountering hard obstacles (e.g., rocks) during installation, forced hammering may deform the spikes. It is recommended to change the driving location or clear obstacles in advance. GNEE RAIL uses materials such as 45# steel, Q235, 40Cr, and Q345B to manufacture railway spikes, significantly extending service life and effectively securing rails.
