Products Description
Early railroad spikes appeared in the 19th century and became popular with the development of steam locomotives. They were originally hand-forged iron nails, but later changed to machine-made steel nails due to increased loads. In the early 20th century, "dog-head spikes" (with wide heads to prevent loosening) were widely used on wooden sleeper tracks, and the promotion of concrete sleepers after World War II gave rise to new designs such as spiral spikes.
High-speed rail lines mostly use ballastless tracks, and the function of spikes has been replaced by a more complex fastener system, but they are still indispensable in conventional railways and stations.
