China's standard railway rails are the core components of the railway track system. They adopt an I-shaped cross-section design. The head, waist and bottom of the rails are used to coordinate the force to achieve train operation guidance and load transfer. The material is mainly high-strength alloy steel, such as U71Mn, U75V, etc., with a tensile strength of 880-1300MPa, which can withstand the impact of heavy-load train axle weights of 25-35 tons. The rails must not only meet the strength requirements under dynamic loads, but also realize the signal transmission function through track circuits.
For example, the 60kg/m U71MnG rails widely used in China's high-speed railways optimize the rail head profile and cross-section size to make the wheel-rail contact stress distribution more uniform, extending the service life to more than 100 million tons-kilometers. In addition, the straightness standard of the rails is extremely strict. The side bending amplitude of the high-speed rail rails does not exceed 0.6 mm per 2 meters, ensuring the stability and comfort of the train running at a speed of 350 kilometers.
