Rail clip is a component of railway fastening systems. It is used to fix the rails to underlying baseplate and sleepers. Its main function is to prevent the rail from moving.

Welded Rail Clip

Fixed components (e.g., shoulders, baseplates) are directly welded to embedded shoulders or baseplates on sleepers or track slabs. Non-removable. Provides extremely strong longitudinal restraint (anti-creep), commonly used in slab tracks or sections with high anti-creep requirements.

Features: High rigidity, excellent anti-creep performance, non-adjustable after installation, difficult to replace.

Application: Ideal for steel plants, ports, and heavy-duty rail tracks; Rigid rail clip without pressure tongue, suitable for steel mills and smelting plants

Bolted Rail Clip

Use bolts as the primary fastening element. Tightening the bolts generates clamping force to hold the rail. Typically consists of cast iron/steel baseplates, T-bolts, nuts, spring washers, and elastic pads.

Features: Relatively simple structure, lower cost, relatively easy installation/removal, provides good longitudinal restraint (friction-dependent), good maintainability. Common in traditional ballasted tracks (e.g., K-type fastenings).

Elastic Rail Clip

Typically consists of the spring clamp, insulated rail pad/guide plate, baseplate (metal and/or elastic), plastic sleeve/shoulder.

Features: This is the mainstream type for modern tracks (especially high-speed, heavy-haul, metro). Advantages include: stable and long-lasting clamping force, excellent elasticity (providing multi-level stiffness), effective vibration and noise reduction, good electrical insulation, few components, rapid installation/removal (usually by hammering or special tool), ease of fine adjustment of track geometry (via changing rail pads/guide plates).
