Rail clip, also called elastic rail clip, it is used to fasten the rail tracks with railroad spike, rail pad, track bolt, rail joint bar together. It is also usually used as a part of rail fastening system. There are huge demand of rail clips on the railway line, about 7000pcs per kilometer, which is directly related to rail safety.

Rail Clip Types

As a part of railway fastening system, rail clip is designed for resulting in the role of buckle pressure on the track by bending and twisting. Elastic rail clip is a reliable connection between steel rails. Main rail clip function is as possible as ensure integrity of railway track. In summary, elastic rail clips are used to prevent vertical and horizontal movement of steel rail relative to the railway sleeper. And then, rail clip ensure the normal gauge, so as to ensure the safety of rail vehicles.

According to different standards and applications, Rail clips can be divided into various types. The common elastic railway clip types include SKL clip, E-type rail clip, Deenik clip, Nabla clip and etc.

• E-type Rail Clip

E-type rail clip can provide durable alignment which can protect the steel rail and the fastenings from high pressure. The materials of e clip is spring steel which make e clip of high strength. There are many types of e clip: E1609, E1809, E1817, E2007, E2009, E2055, etc.

• SKL Rail Clip

SKL clip, also named SKL tension clip, it includes many types such as SKL1, SKL3, SKL12, SKL14, SKL75.

• Nabla Rail Clip

Nabla rail fastening system is generally used in rail fastening system. The material of nabla clip is 60Si2MnA, and the surface can be painted according to the customers.

• Deenik Rail Clip

Deenik rail clip is mainly used on concrete sleepers and popularized in South America.

• Crane Rail Clip

Crane rail clip is mainly used in crane rails to fasten steel rails, and it is usually used with base plate.

Elastic Rail Clip Manufacturing Process

• Raw material
• Shearing
• Heating to forging temperature
• Forming
• Quenching – Tempering
• Inspection – Packing.

Raw material refers to a long spring steel rod. The first step is to shear the raw materials into the required length. Then put the sheared spring steel into the heating furnace. The temperature in the furnace is 950-1000℃. After heating, the clips are formed through three stages of bending by hot molding equipment. After forming, the elastic rail clips are conveyed to a quenching oil tank. After quenching, the elastic rail clips are tempered at 400-500°C. The elastic rail clips are finally oiled and packed. The elastic rail clips must have a hardness between 40 and 48 HRC.
