What they are and how they work?
- Function: E-clips provide a strong, permanent elastic clamping force to hold steel rails to railway sleepers (both wood and concrete) and prevent movement.
- Installation: Tension is created by inserting the clip into a lug, which is positioned parallel to the rail foot. The clip's toe rests on the side of the rail, and its heel rests on the shoulder of the sleeper.
- System components: A complete fastening system typically includes two elastic rail clips, two rail shoulders, a rail pad, and two rail insulators.
- Maintenance: Removal and installation are done using specific tools.
