In railway track structures, the primary function of the sleeper is to maintain gauge and transmit loads to the ballast. However, its role in impact protection is often misunderstood. While the sleeper provides the necessary mass and inertia to stabilize the rail, modern prestressed concrete sleepers are inherently rigid. Consequently, they must rely on the rail pad as an intermediate medium to truly implement "soft protection" for the steel rail. Without this synergy, the sleeper's rigidity would reflect impact forces back into the rail, causing damage.

From a dynamic perspective, when a train passes, the rail is subjected to immense vertical impact. The sleeper offers a solid reaction platform, but without the cushioning of a railway pad, the direct collision between the rail foot and the hard concrete surface results in destructive high-stress peaks capable of fracturing the rail base.

Furthermore, material weatherability dictates the longevity of this protection. Sleepers exposed to open elements absorb heat, creating high-temperature conditions that test the durability of the railroad pad resting upon them.

Even when sleeper surface temperatures exceed 60°C, our pads maintain their resilience, continuously blocking the rigid reaction forces from the sleeper.
