Before installation, ensure all components are clean and undamaged, including the clip itself, the shoulder (or tie plate), insulating components, and the rail pad. Installation typically commences after the rails have been laid in place and preliminary adjustments have been made.

When installing on concrete sleepers, first verify that the embedded shoulders are correctly positioned and undamaged. Next, place the insulating gauge blocks and rail pad into their respective positions. Then, lower the rail into the rail seat. To install the E-type clip, use a dedicated installation tool or hand sledge to insert the clip from the right-hand side of the shoulder (when facing the rail). After initially securing it by hand or tool, drive the clip into its working position by hammering. A crucial installation benchmark is to check the gap between the rear arch of the clip and the side face of the shoulder; this gap should generally be maintained at approximately 3/8 inch (about 9.5 mm), indicating that the clip is providing the designed nominal clamping force.

When installing on wooden sleepers, the system relies on cast steel tie plates secured to the sleeper with spikes. The installation sequence is similar: ensure the tie plate is firmly installed, and after the rail is positioned, insert the E-type clip laterally into the shoulders of the tie plate and drive it into place using tools until the same standard gap is achieved. Throughout the installation process, avoid using excessive force to prevent damaging the clip's elasticity or its anti-rust surface coating.
