A rail pad is inserted in between the rail and baseplate or sleeper. Rail pad is introduced to the railway fastening system because of its resilience or viscoelasticity which can be implemented in the intervention of fatigue cracking of sleepers. The dynamic stress from the wheel or rail impact from both regular and irregular movements is attenuated.

Our EVA/HDPE/rubber rail pads are with high elasticity, applying to types for rails such as rail UIC54, UIC60, BS80lbs,BS100lbs, and sizes as ordered. The pads can be customized with or without grooves, in various possible designs, depending on customers' requirements.

What are the common causes of rail pad failure?
Rail pad failure stems from a mix of heavy, cyclic loads (like high axle weights, train speeds), environmental factors (moisture, extreme temps, sand/dirt), poor installation or maintenance (dirt infiltration, losing toe load), material aging (fatigue from constant stress), and specific track conditions (curves, grades), all leading to cracking, abrasion, and loss of stiffness that compromises track stability.
Operational & Loading Issues
High Axle Loads & Speeds: Increased stress on the pad from heavy trains, especially on curves, causes rapid wear and fatigue.
Cyclic Loading: The constant, repetitive impact from wheels causes material fatigue over time, even with normal loads.

Track Irregularities: Bumps, curves, and uneven loading create dynamic stresses that accelerate deterioration.
Sand Application: Locomotive sand used for braking acts as an abrasive, embedding in the pad and causing wear.
Environmental Factors
Moisture & Dirt: Water carries fine, abrasive particles (ballast, grinding dust) under the pad, grinding away material.
Temperature Extremes: High heat softens the pad, while freeze/thaw cycles can make it brittle, affecting stiffness.

Installation & Maintenance Problems
Dirt Infiltration: Lack of proper design (like a "mustache" seal) allows grit between the rail and pad, causing abrasion.
Loss of Toe Load: Insufficient clamping force on the rail clip allows pad movement and increases stress.
Manufacturing Defects: Internal flaws or inconsistent material can lead to premature failure.
GNEE RAIL provides exceptional elastic rail pads of various types for high-speed railways, normal-speed railways, and cranes. Especially the rail pads made of rubber, EVA, TPEE, and HDPE are very popular with customers. Our railway rubber pads fit the rails such as UIC54, UIC60, BS80lbs, BS100lbs, etc. We have more than 130set of machines in our production lines which can reach an annual production capacity of up to 2000, 000 pieces of rail pads. We offer a wide range of rail pads and other track materials at competitive prices.
