Their lifespan is primarily determined by four key elements: material properties, heat treatment process, operating environment, and maintenance quality.
Clips manufactured from premium spring steels like 60Si2MnA or 60Si2CrA, after undergoing standardized heat treatment, can guarantee a fatigue life exceeding 3 million cycles, which corresponds to a cumulative traffic tonnage of approximately 800 million gross tons on heavy-haul lines.

Environmental corrosion is a critical variable affecting lifespan. In arid inland areas, clips may achieve the designed 15-year service life, whereas in coastal high-salt-spray environments or industrial polluted zones, the life could be reduced to 6-8 years.

The quality of surface treatment is crucial here; a standard hot-dip galvanized coating (thickness ≥50μm) can improve corrosion resistance life by 2-3 times. Dynamic load characteristics are equally important. Continuous vibration from high-speed railways and impact loads from heavy-haul lines accelerate stress relaxation. Regular torque inspection and adjustment can control the annual clamping force decay rate to within 3%.
A scientific maintenance system can significantly extend the service life. It is recommended to establish a comprehensive inspection cycle every two years, using specialized tools to measure the clamping force decay rate. Batch replacement should be performed when the decay exceeds 25% of the initial value.
