What is U71Mn steel?
Steel grade U71Mn is mainly used in rail manufacturing. Its carbon mass fraction is between 0.65% and 0.77%. It is designed for the construction of rail equipment such as locomotives and cranes. As rail steel, it plays an important role in the railway industry, supporting modern railway systems with high speed and large axle weight, and has strict requirements on the strength and durability of rails.
In order to meet the high strength and stability requirements of high-speed railways, the chemical composition of rail steel needs to be precisely controlled. For example, my country's U74 series rails have a carbon content range of 0.67% to 0.80%, and the PD3 and BNbRE
series are also different.
However, excessive fluctuations in carbon content lead to increased difficulty in the quenching process, which may affect the stability and strength of rail performance and even cause problems such as martensite. Therefore, further reducing carbon content fluctuations is crucial to improving rail quality.
In general, U71Mn steel is a high-performance rail material dedicated to the railway industry, and precise control of its chemical composition is crucial to ensuring the safety and performance of the railway system.
