What’s the function of railroad clip?

A railroad clip's main function is to hold the steel rail securely to the railway sleeper, which keeps the tracks stable and prevents the rail from moving vertically or horizontally. They also ensure the correct distance between rails (rail gauge) and absorb vibrations and shock from passing trains to improve safety and passenger comfort.
