Rail wear is a common phenomenon in railway operation, and long-term wear can affect the safety and operational efficiency of railways. Therefore, it is very important to take effective preventive measures to reduce rail wear. Here are some preventive measures for rail wear:

1. Reasonably design the track structure

Track geometry: Ensure the installation angle, gauge, and stability of the track bed to reduce abnormal wear of the rails. Especially the design of the track's linearity and longitudinal slope can effectively reduce the impact and wear of vehicles on the steel rails during operation.

Track bed design: Track bed materials should have good bearing capacity and drainage performance to avoid uneven wear of rails caused by track settlement or uneven stress.

2. Use high-quality steel rails

Choose rail materials suitable for railway operation environment (such as 60kg/m rails, carbon steel or alloy steel, etc.), as well as rails with high surface hardness, to improve their wear resistance and fatigue resistance. Especially on heavy-duty lines, the use of high wear resistant steel rails can effectively extend their service life.

3. Regular inspection and maintenance

Rail wear detection: Regularly inspect the surface and geometric dimensions of the rail, especially in key areas such as curved switches and transition sections, to promptly detect and repair severely worn parts.

Rail polishing: Regularly carry out rail polishing operations to maintain the smoothness of the rail surface, eliminate irregular wear on the rail surface, reduce local wear accumulation, and ensure the service life of the rail.

4. Optimize train operating conditions

Vehicle speed control: Excessive train speed can exacerbate rail wear, especially in curved sections. Reasonably controlling the speed of train operation, especially near curves or turnouts, can effectively reduce wear and tear.

Matching of wheels and rails: Ensure smooth contact between the wheels and rails of the vehicle, reducing local wear caused by excessive or insufficient wheel rims.
