wooden sleepers in railway
Wooden sleepers in railway, also known as railroad ties in railway, are fundamental components of railway tracks. They are rectangular beams made of wood and are laid perpendicular to the rails, providing support and stability to the track structure.
Wooden sleepers that GNEE rail offered can be categorized into three types based on their usage: standard sleepers, turnout sleepers, and bridge sleepers. Standard wooden sleepers typically have a standard length of 2.5 meters and are available in two cross-sectional shapes, Type I and Type II, suitable for different grades of railway lines.
Specifications of wooden sleepers in railway
The length of GNEE wooden sleepers is generally 1.7 to 1.8 times the standard rail gauge. In China, the length of wooden sleepers used for standard rail gauge is 2.5 meters.
- Standard Wooden Sleepers
The standard length is 2.5 meters, and they come in two cross-sectional shapes, Type I and Type II.
Type I: Width 22cm, Thickness 16cm;
Type II: Width 20cm, Thickness 14.5cm. They are used on different grades of railway lines.
- Turnout Wooden Sleepers
Used for turnouts. There are two standard cross-sectional dimensions:
Type 75 standard: Width 22cm, Thickness 16cm; Length ranges from 260cm to 485cm, with a difference of 15cm between each length, totaling 16 length specifications.
Type 92 standard: Width 24cm, Thickness 16cm; Length ranges from 260cm to 480cm, with a difference of 20cm between each length, totaling 12 length specifications. They are selected based on the actual width of the turnout.
- Bridge Wooden Sleepers
Used on bridges. The cross-sectional dimensions vary depending on the spacing of the main beams (or longitudinal beams).
