It is a steel forging or casting that is mechanically clamped onto the rail base (foot) without penetrating it, bearing against the sleeper's side or shoulder. Unlike fastening devices that secure the rail vertically, the anchor functions horizontally, creating friction and mechanical resistance against unwanted longitudinal displacement of the rail caused by train acceleration, braking, and thermal forces.   • Surface Treatment for Corrosion and Wear: The finished anchor receives surface treatments such as galvanizing, phosphate coating, or specialized paint to resist corrosion and reduce wear at the sleeper contact point, extending service life.
