How is the E2055 railway clip manufactured?

 

The E2055 railway clip, an elastic rail fastener, is made from high-grade spring steel (like 60Si2MnA) through a hot forging process, involving shearing, heating to about 950-1000°C, forming in a power press, then hardening (quenching) and tempering (around 350°C) to achieve desired hardness (HRC 42-47) and toughness for durability and fatigue resistance, followed by finishing (oiling/painting) and rigorous testing.

 

Manufacturing Process Breakdown:

 

 

  • Raw Material Selection: Premium spring steel (e.g., 60Si2MnA, 60Si2Cr, 55SiMn) is chosen for its elasticity and strength.

 

  • Shearing: The steel bars are cut to specific lengths for each clip.

 

  • Heating: The cut steel is heated to forging temperature (950-1000°C) in a furnace.

 

  • Forming (Hot Forging): The heated bars are transferred to a power press where they are shaped into the characteristic clip design, ensuring a uniform microstructure.

  • Inspection & Testing: Finished clips undergo hardness (HRC 42-47), fatigue life (millions of cycles), and clamping force tests to meet standards like BS or UIC.
