Description

The type of steel rail is based on the approximate mass per meter (in kilograms). In China's railways, the main types of steel rails used include 75kg/m, 60kg/m, 50kg/m, and 43kg/m. The heaviest type of steel rail in the world has reached 77.5kg/m, and China is gradually laying 75kg/m steel rails on heavy-duty lines.

Classification of steel rails

The standard length of steel rails is divided into two types: 12.5 meters and 25 meters. The knowledge about railway rails can be divided into the following points:

1. Heavy duty steel rail:

refers to steel rails with a nominal weight exceeding 30kg per meter. This type of steel rail is mainly used for the operation of trains and needs to withstand the pressure, impact load, and friction of the train. Therefore, it is required to have sufficient strength and a certain degree of toughness. In the production process, the requirements for quality are very strict. In addition to ensuring the chemical composition, it is also necessary to inspect the mechanical properties, drop hammer test, and acid leaching low magnification structure. The main manufacturers include Wugang, Ansteel, Baosteel, and Pangang.

2. Lightweight steel rail:

refers to steel rails with a nominal weight of less than or equal to 30kg per meter. The quality requirements for lightweight rails are lower than those for heavy-duty rails, and the main tests include chemical composition, tensile strength, hardness, and drop hammer test. Light rail is mainly used for laying temporary transportation lines and light locomotive lines in forest areas, mining areas, factories, and construction sites.
