Pandrol E Rail Clips How To Use

Pandrol e-clips are elastic rail fasteners used to secure rails to baseplates, installed by positioning the clip's open end over the rail foot and driving it into its housing on the baseplate using a hammer or specialized machine until it seats firmly, often leaving a small gap for tension; removal uses a prying tool like a Panpuller, ensuring the rail is secure and components are aligned for safety and performance.

Key Components & Function:

Elasticity: The clip flexes to absorb vibrations and resist rail movement (creep, twist).

Components: An assembly often includes the e-clip, shoulders, pad, and insulators, fitting onto a baseplate.

Installation Steps (General):

• Preparation: Ensure the tie/sleeper is prepared (tamped) and the baseplate is correctly positioned on the tie.

• Rail Placement: Place the rail onto the baseplate, ensuring it's seated correctly.

• Clip Positioning: Place the e-clip so its "toe" (open end) sits over the rail's foot and into the baseplate lug.

• Driving: Use a sledgehammer or specialized track machine to drive the clip into its housing until it's fully seated and creates the desired tension, often leaving a small gap (around 3/8 inch) for thermal expansion.

Generally, e rail clips are available at the range from 18mm to 23mm diameter. Rail –e clip is usually made of spring steel.
