The installation of railway spikes is a key link in track engineering construction, and its correctness is directly related to the safety of railway operation and the stability of the track system. Ordinary spikes are mostly installed by manual hammering or pneumatic nailing equipment. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the spikes are perpendicular to the sleeper surface, and avoid repeated knocking to cause loosening or damage to the sleeper.

 

For threaded spikes and spiral spikes, electric torque wrenches are generally used for installation. The appropriate torque value needs to be set to ensure that the installation depth of the spikes is moderate and the clamping force is uniform. Before installation, the debris in the sleeper hole should be thoroughly cleaned to avoid affecting the fastening effect of the spikes.

 

In addition, the installation angles and spacings of different spikes must comply with the design drawings and industry standards to avoid gauge errors. When constructing under harsh climatic conditions, especially in extremely cold or humid areas, spike types with better rust and anti-slip properties should be selected.

 

During operation, the loosening, falling off or corrosion of spikes will cause the rails to swing or even gauge imbalance, so regular inspections and replacement of failed parts are required. Correct installation and maintenance measures are the basic conditions for ensuring the long-term operation of railway lines.
