In order to prevent the rust of related bolts in railway lines, bridges, etc., it is usually necessary to apply railway bolt protective grease for protection during the installation and daily maintenance of the bolts.
There are two main protective mechanisms of grease: one is physical isolation protection, that is, a layer of grease is applied on the metal surface to isolate the metal surface from the environment to protect the metal from the erosion of corrosive media in the environment and prevent metal rust; the other is chemical reaction protection, that is, by adding anti-corrosion agents to the grease, the anti-corrosion agents form a firm and tightly arranged adsorption film on the metal surface after contacting the metal surface, forming a multi-molecular layer of protective film, thereby preventing the oxygen, moisture and acidic substances in the air from corroding the metal surface and playing a protective role.
The use of bolt protective grease mainly has the following problems:
(1) The performance of the protective grease used for embedded casing bolts can basically meet the technical requirements in Table 1, but the protective effect is not good in actual use. The bolts are mostly rusted, there is water in the pipe, and there are cases of frost damage to nylon embedded casings in northern regions;
(2) The protective grease used for ballasted lines has a low consistency (consistency is 00~000) or is directly applied with waste oil, which has poor protective effect, short cycle, and serious bolt rust;
(3) According to estimates, more than 5,000 tons of protective grease are used for railway line bolts in my country each year, but most of them are inferior anti-rust grease, which will be lost to the natural environment under high temperature or rain erosion, polluting the line environment;
(4) There are many types, manufacturers and brands of bolt protective grease, which brings great inconvenience to procurement, on-site use and management, and unqualified products often appear.
