How are elastic rail clips manufactured?

Elastic rail clips (ERCs) are manufactured using a hot forging process with high-grade spring steel (e.g., 55Si7) to ensure durability and elasticity. The process involves shearing raw steel bars, heating them to (950 ℃–1000 ℃, forming the shape via multi-stage hydraulic presses, followed by oil quenching and tempering to achieve proper hardness (40-48 HRC).

• Raw Material Preparation: High-quality spring steel bars are cut (sheared) to the precise required length.

• Heating: The sheared rods are heated in an induction furnace to a forging temperature of 950℃–1000℃. Precise temperature control is critical to avoid decarburization.

• Forming (Hot Forging): The heated bars are transferred to a power press and bent through three sets of dies and fixtures to achieve the final shape.

• Quenching (Hardening): The formed clips are immediately transferred to a quenching oil tank to achieve the required hardness and martensitic structure.

• Tempering: The clips are tempered at approximately 350℃–500℃ to increase toughness and reduce brittleness.

• Inspection and Finishing: The finished clips undergo rigorous testing, including checks for dimensions, hardness, and metallurgical properties, before being oiled and packed.
