Steel rails are known to be an integral part of railway tracks. Steel rail and other railway fasteners support the railway track system, including railway sleepers, rail joints, railroad spike, rail clips, track bolt and nut, etc. The steel rails are always in an inconspicuous place for the train to crush and guide the train.

What is a head hardened rail?
A head-hardened rail is a specialized railway track where only the top part (the head) undergoes a specific heat treatment, making it significantly harder and more wear-resistant than a standard rail, crucial for heavy loads, high speeds (like bullet trains), sharp curves, and metro systems, balancing extreme durability in the contact zone with necessary flexibility in the web and base. This process creates a fine, strong pearlitic structure deep into the head, extending rail life and reducing maintenance.
How it works?
- Induction Heating: The rail head is reheated, often using induction, to precise temperatures.
- Accelerated Cooling: It's then rapidly cooled with air and water mist, locking in a very hard, fine-grained steel structure (pearlite).
- Selective Hardening: This process hardens the head (e.g., 350-400 HB) while leaving the web and base softer (250-300 HB) for flexibility, unlike fully hardened rails.

Key Benefits:
- Superior Wear Resistance: Resists squashing, flats, and wear, especially under heavy axle loads.
- Longer Service Life: Reduces replacement frequency, lowering costs.
- Enhanced Safety: Improves reliability on high-stress routes.
- Application: Ideal for high-speed lines, metro, and heavy-haul freight.
Since 2008, GNEE RAIL has been supplying steel rails of different grades for more than 18 years, steel rails from GNEE is highly recommened in China and abroad.Wtih cutting edge equipment, GNEE produces high quality steel rails that meet with requirements of most countries. Standard rail, head hardened rail, heavy rail, light rail, crane rail and other types are all available here, as one of the China main rail supplier, GNEE RAIL has been working on supplying economical green railway products all over the world.
