Railway spikes are core connecting components in the railway track system. Their primary function is to securely fasten components such as the rail and baseplate to the sleeper, preventing lateral displacement or longitudinal creeping of the track during train operation, thereby ensuring track structure stability and operational safety. They are indispensable parts of the track fastening system.
Currently, common railway spikes are mainly divided into two categories: One is the mainstream screw spike, such as those primarily supplied by GNEE RAIL. Made from high-strength alloy material with anti-corrosion surface treatment, they integrate tightly with concrete sleepers. They are suitable for high-speed rail, freight dedicated lines, and urban rail transit wherever concrete sleepers are used. The other category is the traditional dog spike, which relies primarily on physical friction for fixation in wooden sleepers. It has a narrow range of suitable applications and is prone to loosening over time due to wear of the wooden sleeper, and is now gradually being replaced by screw spikes.
