medium carbon steel

55Q is a medium carbon steel mainly used for manufacturing light rail and track steel. Its carbon mass fraction ranges from 0.50% to 0.60%, with high hardness and wear resistance, but relatively low plasticity and toughness, especially prone to fracture under low temperature conditions. Main characteristics of 1255Q material

1. Chemical composition
The carbon content is relatively high (0.50%~0.60%), belonging to the range of medium carbon steel,
·The content of other elements such as manganese and silicon meets the standards, but fluctuations in carbon content may affect material properties.

2. Mechanical properties
High hardness and strong wear resistance, suitable for use in mining steel rails9 and light rails9
Low plasticity and toughness, especially prone to brittle fracture under low temperature conditions.

3. Application Fields
Mainly used for manufacturing light rail (weight ≤ 30kg per meter) and mining steel rails.
Suitable for temporary transportation routes, light locomotive tracks, and crane tracks, 55Q compared to other materials

Difference from Q235B

The carbon content of 55Q is higher than that of Q235B, with stronger hardness and wear resistance, but lower toughness.
Q235B has a lower price and is suitable for ordinary steel rails, while 55Q is more suitable for scenarios with higher wear resistance

requirements.

Production process optimization

Under low temperature conditions, the fracture rate of 55Q light rail is relatively high. By optimizing the cooling rate after rolling, adjusting the chemical composition (such as reducing carbon content), and controlling the level of inclusions, the fracture rate can be significantly reduced and product performance can be improved. In summary, 55Q is a medium carbon steel with high hardness and wear resistance, widely used in the manufacturing of light rail and mining rails. However, attention should be paid to its brittleness under low temperature conditions.
