Rail anchors or called rail anticreepers are spring steel clips that attach to the underside of rail tie plates and bear against the sides of rail sleepers. The function of rail anchors is to prevent longitudinal movement of the steel rails, either from changes in temperature or through vibration.
Rail Anchors are required to withstand powerful longitudinal tension and impact over the long term under high-speed train operation, frequent braking, and temperature variations. Therefore, their material must possess high strength, excellent toughness, and outstanding fatigue resistance.
GNEE RAIL typically selects various high-strength alloy steels and high-quality carbon steels, which undergo strict heat treatment processes to ensure their tensile, shear, and wear resistance meet international railway standards.
Common materials include medium and high carbon steels (such as 45# and 55# steel) and manganese series alloy steels (such as 40Mn, 50Mn, and 60Si2Mn). These steels have a moderate carbon content and, after quenching and tempering treatment, provide sufficient hardness and strength while maintaining necessary elasticity and impact toughness, preventing fracture under repeated vibration. For heavy-haul railways or regions with extreme temperature differences, silicon-manganese spring steel (60Si2MnA) or boron-alloyed steel is used to enhance fatigue life and corrosion resistance.
