When the train is running, often producing the role of the longitudinal forces on the rail, so that longitudinal movement of the rail, and sometimes even drives the sleeper to move together. This kind of longitudinal movement, called crawling. Crawling generally occurs in the double track railway line interval, single track railway, under the direction of heavy vehicles on the ramp and stop braking range.
Line crawl often caused by uneven rail gap, sleeper skew and so on, the destructive of the line, or even derail the vehicle runway, endanger road safety. Therefore, effective measures must be taken to prevent the crawling, usually adopt rail anchor to prevent line crawling.
Rail anchors play a critical role in the railway fastening system. Their primary purpose is to ensure the longitudinal stability of rails, preventing rails from slipping or creeping during train operations or temperature fluctuations.
Rails are subjected to significant longitudinal forces when high-speed trains pass, during braking, or in the operation of industrial cranes. Without proper restraint, rails may gradually shift, leading to track gauge deviations, uneven tracks, and in severe cases, derailments. Rail anchors secure the rails to the sleepers and transfer longitudinal forces to the sleepers and track bed, keeping rails in their designed positions and ensuring the safety of trains or industrial vehicles as well as maintaining track geometry stability.
