The production process of seamless rails
In 2008, a complete seamless rail production line was established in Jiangsu, China. The length of this production line is one kilometer, and 16 12.5-meter-long rails can be inserted at a time. Seamless welding points are set up at each gap. Seamless welding points are different from ordinary welding equipment. You can think of it as a "micro forging furnace". Two rails will enter a closed space, melt at a high temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius, and then cool and reshape here. The whole process is smooth and there is no mistake. The connected rails are like new ones, and the connection is invisible to the naked eye.
Not only are they invisible to the naked eye, but the internal rails will also be integrated, so that when there is a phenomenon of thermal expansion and contraction, the entire rail will expand and contract together, and no thermal stress will be generated.

However, the length of the production line is limited, and it is impossible to produce a whole rail. The next step is to connect each 1 km long rail, which requires road construction machinery at the railway laying site. The road construction machinery will pass the rails through the body, which has high-temperature forging points. When entering, they are separated, and when coming out, they are complete.
The freshly baked rails are cooled by special cooling technology to make the temperature of the rails the most suitable for laying, and then laid on the rails for fixing. China's title of "infrastructure maniac" can also be reflected in this place.
With the blessing of road construction machinery, the laying speed of seamless rails has been greatly accelerated.
