Application scenarios of national standard rails in China's railway system

National standard rails are the core component of China's railway transportation system and are widely used in trunk railways, high-speed railways, urban rails, industrial branch lines, mining transportation and other fields. Different rail types are adapted to different transportation intensity and structural design requirements, and there are corresponding standards from low-speed light rail to high-speed heavy-load lines.

For example, 43kg and 50kg rails are mainly used for conventional railways and industrial branch lines, suitable for trains with a running speed not exceeding 120km/h. 60kg steel rails are currently the most commonly used heavy rail type in China's railways and are suitable for most passenger and freight mixed lines. For high-load and high-frequency lines, such as coal transportation lines, 75kg rails are preferred, which have a large unit weight, thick cross-section and stronger fatigue resistance.

In urban rails, such as subways and trams, national standard rails are also widely used to ensure consistency in engineering and maintenance. National standard rails have long been the main rails used in China's railway system due to their mature standards, complete supporting facilities and convenient maintenance.
