Sleeper screws consist of a head with a square or rectangular section with a round collar as well as a threaded part with a single thread of a considerable height and a considerable pitch. Sleeper screws are used to connect steel elements of a track structure with wooden or concrete sleepers.
It is also called: chair screw, screw spike, collar bolt, lag bolt. Depending on their type, sleeper screws differ in terms of their length, pitch, and thread height; the mandrel diameter of the threaded part; and the dimensions of the collar part.
