What are the functions of rail pads and insulators?
Railway rubber pad is an important part in rail structure, which is the connex of rails and concrete structure parts in order to protect from vibrating and impacting. In addition, through it the railway signal system can be also in the state of electric isolation. Due to being bare in the atmosphere for a long time, rail pad needs to be with good performances of aging resistance and cold & heat resistance, which still needs to be with good performance of noise reduction in some railways, for example, subway, etc.
Rail pad functions
A rail rubber pad is essential in reducing shock and vibration in a rail system. The pad laid under the rail to ensure:

Rail insulator is installed between steel rail and rail tie plate. It serves to insulate rail clips and track bolts from the railway sleepers, as well as adjust the rail gauge. The function of rail insulator is the same as rail pad. As an essential part for the high speed and heavy railroad, they are effective to ensure the safety of rail track.
