A rail anchor is used to clamp onto the base of rail snug against the crosstie both sides. It is produced in one-piece from spring steel, aiming to eliminate the track sliding or expanding or contracting.
Railway tracks must use rail anchors, with the core purpose of securely fastening the track structure to prevent displacement or loosening during train operation. Train movement generates lateral impact forces and longitudinal creeping forces. Without the fixation provided by rail anchors, the rails are prone to deviation, the track gauge can become disordered, and even potential safety hazards may arise.
The function of the rail anchor is straightforward: it tightly connects the rail, base plate, and sleeper together.
