The world's largest railway rail project has been launched

The world's largest railway rail project has been launched to help build the railway network in Central Asia

April 26, 2025, Almaty, Kazakhstan-The largest railway rail project in Central Asia was officially launched in Kazakhstan a few days ago, marking a new stage in the construction of railway infrastructure in the region. The project is jointly implemented by China Railway Construction Group and Kazakhstan National Railway Company, and is expected to bring revolutionary changes to railway transportation in Central Asia.

The main goal of the project is to provide high-quality rails for new and upgraded railways in Central Asia. With the increasing trade between Central Asian countries, the demand for railway transportation has continued to rise, while the local railway infrastructure has been unable to meet the rapidly growing demand. Therefore, the Kazakhstan government decided to join China Railway Construction Group to upgrade the infrastructure, among which the provision and installation of railway rails is one of the core contents of the project.

This project covers the production, transportation and laying of rails. According to the plan, the total investment of the project will exceed US$2 billion, and the procurement volume of railway rails will reach 2 million tons. It is expected that all construction tasks will be completed within the next five years. After the project is completed, Kazakhstan's railway network will be more dense and its transportation capacity will be significantly improved.

China Railway Construction Group, a partner in this project, will provide the world's advanced railway rail production technology to ensure the high quality and durability of the rails. China Railway Corporation has reached an agreement with Kazakhstan National Railway Company to ensure that all supplied rails meet international railway standards and can withstand the harsh climatic conditions and high-intensity transportation pressure in Central Asia.

In the production process of the rails, the most advanced metallurgical technology is used, including high-alloy rails and heat-treated rails to ensure the strength, hardness and wear resistance of the rails. These rails will be used on many important railway trunk lines in Central Asia, especially on the "Belt and Road" railways connecting China and other Central Asian countries.

The implementation of this project will not only greatly improve the railway transportation capacity in Central Asia, but also promote the growth of the regional economy. The upgrade of the railway will greatly shorten the transportation time of goods, improve transportation efficiency, and thus promote trade between Central Asian countries. At the same time, the railway construction process will create a large number of local jobs and improve residents' income levels.
